Since only one person asked questions in response to my 3 Questions post, I've answered the questions in a comment to that post.
With-in the last couple of weeks, this Saturday (Oct 22) was definitely multi-booked, but I ended up giving up most of the activities, so it ended up being a day that was relatively relaxing and fun. This Saturday, there was a clogging workshop--Pennsylvania Harvest Stomp, but it was one that would've required staying a couple of nights. Since I already had other commitments, that was the first activity I decided not to do. At the beginning of the semester, the Saturday work shifts had been divied up between the three library staff members. I had ended up with this Saturday, but then early last week, JS wanted to trade Saturdays, so now I'm scheduled to work next Saturday. As late as a week prior to the conference, I was considering going to the Virginia Library Conference down in Williamsburg on Oct. 19-21 with the idea that I'd drive back Saturday morning. It finally got late enough that I just decided I wasn't up to dealing with all the details that quickly and getting all the approvals I would need for the time-off and the funds for the conference. SS also decided to host a Girls Football Party this Saturday, but that conflicted with the only event I did attend. In the end, the only event I attended was the Lisk's Flag Football party.
The Lisk Flag Football party is an annual event hosted by a family in Charlestown, WV for all of the young adults they know. Since some of the older kids have worked/are working for PHC/HSLDA, I've been going to the party for several years. I especially wanted to go this year because a friend visiting back in the area from California was going to be there. Also, a couple of friends that recently got married and I hadn't seen since were going to be there. Of course, there were numerous other people there I was looking forward to seeing again and new people to meet.
Before I went to the party, I took the time to finish putting all my Ireland pictures into a photo albulm to share with everyone I knew would be asking. I had put all the pictures I took into the albulm weeks ago. After that, I ordered prints from digital pictures taken by about four other people to supplement my own pictures and doubled my collection.
Despite the cloudy and partly rainy day, the party was lots of fun. I didn't join the football game, but they had two good teams going at it, despite the occasional drizzles of rain. After the football game, they had some fun relay races (picture adults riding bikes, weaving through a row of cones then back to the line...oh yeah, the bikes are the size built for under 10 year olds....and the rider is blind-folded). There were at least 33 people involved in the relay races and I heard several names mentioned that would've been there had there not been a Boy Scout's Court of Honor (Eagle Award) scheduled for the same afternoon and the weather hadn't been so bad. Supper was inside this year, instead of around a bonfire. The grilled hotdogs and chilli were especially appreciated. I got to see wedding pictures from Jenna and Brad's wedding, which I had missed due to being in Ireland. It was interesting to realize that there were at least 3 couples at the party that were married within the last 3 months (Jenna & Brad, Kerin & Josh, Joanna & Chad).
I worked with 2&3 year olds at BRBC this morning. The church is still meeting in a school, just weeks away from completing and moving into their own building.
Tonight, is Awana, as normal. However, it's the red team's (my team's) turn to teach story time (15-20 minutes). Since tonight's theme is "Backward Night," I've found a Bible alphabet and plan to work through it backwards.
