Classes began at PHC on Wednesday of this week.
On Monday and Tuesday, I spent the day with the faculty in workshop sessions, including one session that I presented on the library.
By Wednesday, I had agreements with three different faculty to visit three different classes and present some library information. It's a total of 6 sections in the next two weeks.
This week, we've announced the new login method for off-campus access of library resources. The new method should be much more secure and even a bit more convenient for students and faculty. There are still some kinks that need worked out, so we haven't pulled the old method completely yet.
My sister has called my twice this week with "small world" stories--both of them connected to PHC. In the first case, we discovered that one of the new interns at GFA who will be living with her is the sister of a PHC student. In the second case, one of her co-workers caught a press release about someone in Virginia working on filming movies from a Christian perspective. Her co-worker is very excited about the concept and is hoping the to get his daughter involved in one of the filming projects. The "someone" who is doing the filming was JM and I's wedding photographer.
When AC submitted her resignation, I immediately began looking for someone to fill her position. I feel very blessed to have been able to hire NF. NF has worked in the mailroom for the last few months for the college. Yesterday (Wednesday), was NF's first day in the library. She and AC have been going through training almost constantly for these two days, as AC's last day was today. NF still has much to learn, but is picking up on things well.
Two new student assistants were hired for the library this semester. They have both started their training and seem to be learning quickly, as well, though they have only worked about 4 hours each.
I don't know when I'm going to get caught up on my own projects between training NF and training the new student workers, but hopefully it won't be too far in the future.
