Book Swap
My friend Sarah at Library Hospital is co-hosting a book swap with another friend. I like the idea! I'm still considering what I have any books I'd be confident recommending and swapping.
Summer Reading
LCPL hosted a summer reading program with the theme "M is for Mystery." Children, Teens, and Adults could sign up and record (online) their reading to be entered for prizes. I signed up Jer and we ended up reading 25 books that I got recorded by 8/8/08. We would've had to read 50 books to qualify for a prize, but considering we only had 2 weeks and a handful of weekends, I didn't feel like we did too bad.
I also signed up myself and managed to finish and record 10 books (about half of them were YA fiction re-reads). I read others that I didn't take the time to include. So I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call yesterday informing me that I was the second place winner for the summer reading program at the Purcellville Library! I picked up my prize--one of the summer reading program themed t-shirts, a promotional travel mug, and two promotional pens. JM has decided that if it only takes 10 books to win, he'll definitely be entering next year!

That's so cool, I will have to check this out. I been thinking about trying to set up some kind of online summer reading program... do you think college students would actually participate?
Hmm...I'd never thought about doing a summer reading program with college students. I know students around my college are always looking for books they can read for leisure over the summer when they aren't taking any classes. They just might participate. Let me know how it goes if you give it a try!
Hey, just a heads up -- we drew names from a hat and the matches for the swap are posted on my blog. When you get a chance hop on over to find out what happens next. :) Thanks for joining in the fun!
