I spent all of Thursday filing for the gift entry department of Gospel for Asia. Immediately after work, my sister D and I picked up pizza and headed over to the H--'s, the family my sister SR nannys for. I got to meet the mother, 5 year old twins, and 9-month-old triplets. After bribing the H--'s with pizza, we were allowed to leave with their nanny.
About 8:00PM, the three of us headed off for Kansas. We made the trip in around 5.5 hours. When we arrived shortly after 1:30AM, we were met by our brother SC and out mother. Sister L also joined us and we talked until 3:00AM.
Friday, we slept in and stayed indoors to avoid the cold weather. In the evening, we criss-crossed town in the van, stopping to carol older people in the church and other friends.
Christmas morning, we opened presents and prepared for Christmas lunch with our grandparents, G&GG. It was the only Christmas in my memory that didn't include a full meal at my grandparents with the entire extended family. After a nap, we went out to GGG's and helped move a couple of organs--a "new" one for grandma and her old one out of the house to go to the manse basement that they use for church dinners. To round off the evening, we made some more stops to carol our neighbors and the only two convenience stores that were open.
Sunday was church in the morning. It was great to see friends in the home church and to see new faces. There were also faces that were missing. For lunch, we visited my mom's only brother and his family. It's interesting how relationships change as people become adults.
