A note between silences

I'm not sure I'll take the time to post again before next weekend, so a few notes before I disappear for a few days.

The library is largely recovered from the server crash. It took most of Wednesday to get everything checked-in and shelved that had been returned while we were down. There are still a couple lingering problems from the server failure--both rather important. 1) Students on-campus can't access the web catalog. Don't know why. In my mind, it should be a simple fix, but apparently it isn't. I haven't had the time to track down the right tech guy to explain it to me. 2) I can't run reports through the MSAccess/ODBC connection. It was working at one point on Wednesday evening, but then it wasn't working again on Thursday, with a different error message.

On Friday, I worked from home and spent the day reading a bunch of material about the university I'll be visiting next week for accreditation. I'm part of the team that will be visiting the university on Tuesday-Friday. Based on the materials we've already received and interviews during the visit, the team will recommend whether or not the university should continue to be accredited. I still need to write my preliminary report based on the materials I've read and put together a list of with the questions I have and who I'll need to talk to for answers.

Today, I've worked on my taxes. Should know in the next couple of days if they were accepted by e-file. This evening, I'm going to a middle school production of Cheaper by the Dozen.

Tomorrow, there's church in the morning, I'm meeting with a student for at least a few minutes in the afternoon, and then Awana in the evening.

Things to do before I leave on my 8:30 flight Tuesday AM:
- Write preliminary report and make up interview list
- Post ILCA (didn't get done over spring break)
- Approve library timesheets
- Submit May leave calendar
- Respond to various e-mails: budget question, donation in Richmond, student center campaign, additional shelving, Library Policy Manual
- Decide about interviews for Librarian candidates
- Follow up on a problem ILL request
- Hopefully catch a friend that is in town
- Get a yearbook ordered for the library
- Somewhere in there, make time to continue following up on the lingering server problems

And yes, I have noticed that it is spring. I'm eagerly waiting for the weekend when I can actually spend some time outside enjoying it!
