PLACES AND ORGANIZATIONS
BRBC: Blue Ridge Bible Church. Independent church of ~400. I attended this church regularly in my early years in Virginia. I am still involved in some of their ministries, including helping with the Sparks (5-7 year olds) in the Awana program and working on the technical area of their annual Christmas play.
BRTC: Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers. Dance group where I learned to clog in 2002 and continue to practice and perform with the group. The group has 50-70 cloggers of various levels. Only a portion of those perform with the group. Typically, 12-24 cloggers will perform at any particular venue.
GFA: Gospel for Asia. Ministry to Asia that I've been familiar with practically my whole life. My sister D joined the ministry full-time in December 2002.
PHC: Patrick Henry College. College that opened in Fall 2000. I've worked in the library since August 2000--first as Public Services Librarian, then assuming the responsibilities as Director of the Library in Dec 2001.
SC: Sterling College. Christian college where SR is currently a full-time student. D and I each received our undergraduate degrees at SC.
WLCC: Western Loudoun Community Church. Assemblies of God church of ~40+. Began attending this church regularly in late 2002/early 2003 when I was looking for a church closer in size and atmosphere to the church in which I grew up.
PEOPLE - FAMILY
Dad: Self-employed wheat and beef farmer who does substitute rural mail carrying on the side.
Mom: Stay-at-home mother and teacher for my youngest sister who is still being home-schooled. Enjoys chatting with friends, working with church ministries, and generally helping others when they need it (trips to the doctor with those who can't drive, meals for new mothers and recently bereaved, etc).
D: Sister closest to me in age. Has worked for GFA since December 2002. Keeps in touch with her ministry supporters through her blog Through the Gates.... Since fall 2009, married to Greg.
SR: Next sister in the family. Operated her own daycare for close to a year after high school. Then worked as a nanny for a family with twins and triplets. While nannying, she started work on her degree by taking classes at the local community college. Finished her degree at SC in December 2009. Married Andrew in summer 2009. They live and work in Arkansas and are expecting their first child in 2011. [Previously noted: Is now attending SC full-time with a major in education. Is especially passionate about early childhood education. Looks forward to weekends that her boyfriend (AK) can visit from Arkansas.]
SC: Only brother. Graduated high school May 2007. Less than two weeks later he moved to northern Virginia. He is currently working in waste water management while working on his college degree through Lord Fairfax Community College. Enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend of 4+ years (SarahS) and other friends that share his interests in computers, paintballing, and contemporary music. Likes to know how things work and thinks that tinkering with them is the best way to learn. [Previously noted: Currently working at Le Gourmet Chef.]
L: Youngest sister. Enjoys detective books, dolls, and annoying her brother.
JM: Friend since Fall 2000. Boyfriend since Aug 2005. Fiance since May 2006. Husband since December 2006 His blog: Karate and Whatnot from VA. Our team blog: No Longer "Just Friends".
Jer: JM's son (b. 2002), now my step-son. Is being home-schooled for the third grade. He loves ninjas and army. His favorite movie is How to Train Your Dragon followed closely by Star Wars. He is a typical big brother who alternates between finding his baby sister annoying (when she cries) and doting on her. [Previously noted: (OK that still sounds weird.) Prefers to be called Superman. Loves trains, firetrucks, and other emergency vehicles and thinks all big equipment (dump trucks, tractors, cranes, etc) is cool. Plans to grow up to be a SWAT Policeman.]
TGM: Daughter (b. 2009). Is generally happy, contented, and easy-to-care-for. Loves clogging and music and laughing at her big brother's antics.
