I had a wonderful Thanksgiving again this year, going up to PA with JM.
Through special circumstances, Jer was able to go up to PA the weekend before Thanksgiving and spend the whole week with his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. It was a visit that was enjoyed thoroughly by everyone. Jer's highlights included visiting the firehouse with his fireman uncle, riding/driving the lawn tractor, going fishing, and I'm sure many other events.
JM & I drove up to his sister, K&R's,on Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday evening when we arrived, Jer was just returning (on the fire truck!) from his visit to the fire house. We got to spend the evening just relaxed, playing with baby C, and catching up.
The entire clan was meeting at K&R's for Thanksgiving supper around 7:00 on Thursday. K&R had Thanksgiving with his family closer to noon. We helped get the Thanksgiving meal going and kept an easy eye on it while they made the trip to their meal a couple of doors down. Early in the afternoon, JM's mom and brother showed up with more of the food and added their help to getting the meal ready. Just before 7:00, JM's dad and sister M showed up. We had a great meal--way to go K! JM's parents and M had to head back home Thursday evening, as M had work. The rest of us spent another night with K&R.
Friday morning, we got up leisurely and headed off to the Mc home. We arrived around noon. JM and his brother spent a good bit of the afternoon splitting wood and got all the wood waiting to be split done.
Friday evening and Saturday, we spent time going through the family's photo albums for pictures that we can use for a slide show or display at the wedding reception. We scanned 2-3 dozen pictures before we left. We now have "young" pictures of both JM & I. We need to sort through our own photo albums for more current pictures and pictures of us together.
I don't remember what all else we did Friday and Saturday, but it was very relaxing and enjoyable! Jer found a couple of games that he liked and talked anyone who was around into playing with him as often as he could. K & M had gone shopping on Friday morning for something to wear for the wedding. They were looking for clothes that would coordinate, since they will be doing the candle lighting together. I got a chance to see what they had found. One of the blouses they found matched the color of the bridesmaid dresses perfectly (or VERY close to it). M did say it wasn't her favorite color and K wasn't sure that she like the way the blouse fits her. They may end up getting something different.
My big accomplishment for the weekend was completing all the thank you notes for gifts I received at the bridal shower 2 weeks earlier. SS had made the gift list at the shower. Then she took the list back home with her and gave me a spreadsheet file with the gifts listed with the name & address of each giver. It was great--made it VERY easy to write thank you notes!
Sunday morning was church. We left for VA right after church. After making a stop to eat and then running into some very slow Thanksgiving traffic, we got back in the area a bit later than planned.
