On a Tuesday

Today was a clumsy day. I scraped the back of my hand against a copier tray, so it is bruised--not noticably visible, but I can feel it at times. I pinched my finger between a box of books and the edge of a trunk--again, not visible, but I can feel it at times. I struck my knee against the corner of my desk--can't even tell which knee at the moment, but it hurt at the time.

It was an eventful day in the library as well. Among other things, we received 42 boxes of donated books. That took some rearranging to find space for all those boxes until we have a chance to sort through them.

Shortly after the books were delivered, I noticed that the two sections of shelving in the technical services room were coming un-anchored. The wall had broken around the upper anchors, so the shelves were loose. We then had to unload everything from those shelves and find another place to put those items until maintenance is able to re-anchor the shelves.

One faculty member dropped by to schedule me to visit both sections of his class next week. I'm scheduled to visit three sections of another class tomorrow. I've already visited one class this semester last week.

Since the first week of August, I'm supposed to have been working on a self-paced class about preserving and protecting collections during a renovation project. This is a busy time of year, the class is self-paced, and I've recently been informed that there won't be a library renovation due to lack of funds. All reasons that are making it hard to take the time to do the class, but I'm trying to be optimistic and work on the class anyway. I finally got started on it today, but ran into problems trying to get my flash plug-in to allow links to external files to work.

I did get a problem fixed with the computer we use for sending and receiving ILL articles. And I was able to enable the online access that is provided with the purchase of a book we acquired recently.

Overall, I was able to feel like I accomplished some things today, even if they weren't what I set to accomplish.
