7 Quick Takes on Saturday

1. I am in Kansas for Christmas and it is wonderful! I'm home, but D isn't here yet and SC isn't going to be home for this Christmas. The table does not feel crowded only 6 people around it.

2. The PHC Christmas party was on Thursday. I was disappointed that PHC chose to have the party during business hours, making it difficult for working spouses (such as JM) to make it to the party. But the party went well and was very much enjoyed.

3. PHC used Caterplates at the party, which was the center of many a conversation.

4. We flew through Minneapolis-St. Paul airport on the way to Kansas. We'll fly through Detroit on the way back to Virginia. Other way stations that have been experienced between Wichita, KS and Washington, D include: Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, and Atlanta. (I'm sure there are more, just not coming to mind at the moment.)

5. Minneapolis-St. Paul is a nice enough airport, but not someplace I was wanting to spend 4+ hours. We had a 2.5-3 hour layover scheduled when we bought the tickets--longer than I prefer, but for a cheap ticket, it's acceptable. When we checked in at 7:45 AM for our flight out of DC, the flight out of Minneapolis was already delayed until 2:45. By the time we landed in Minneapolis at 11:00 AM, the flight had been delayed again to 3:15. We had time for a sit-down lunch in one of the airport restaurants and JM still took an hour nap.

6. GG moved into assisted living this week. She doesn't really want to give up her home of many years, but praying that she will adust well. Her mind is still strong, but her body betrays her--she tires quickly and has experienced more problems with balance in recent months. She is hoping that she'll be able to re-gain strength over the winter and move out of assisted living in the spring.

7. We ended up not doing any Christmas decorating at our home in Virginia. They haven't gotten up the tree here yet, so we get to go Christmas tree hunting again this year!
