Wireless

I've gone over to the dark side. I picked up a cell phone yesterday. I went with Cingular, because my sister is on Cingular and I liked the options on their plans better.

I don't know for sure how much I'll really depend on it or how close I'll keep it. So far, it hasn't been far from my purse.

When I moved into my little cement block house in a low spot 3.5 years ago, I was told there was no cell service in the house. I was optimistically hoping that the passage of time might have improved that. Initial tests do indicate that there is only enough signal reception to carry on an actual conversation when I'm standing by my kitchen door.

This morning in church, the pastor mentioned in the message that he visits the field behind my house to get quiet time, specifically because his cell phone doesn't work there.

My sister had the pleasure of hearing my "Hello. Hello? Hello?? Are you there? Can you hear me?" While I heard nothing from her.

Isn't it just brilliant of people to say "Can you hear me?" when the response can't be heard?

Hahahahahaha! You finally took the plunge! I hope you got the "perfect" plan with the "perfect" phone!

Too bad about that little detail of the phone not working at home. I hear that there are antennae for phones if you're bound and determined to get cell signals in your house.
