Easter Weekend

HE IS RISEN!
HE IS RISEN INDEED!

It still surprises me how many Christians don't seem to know this simple, joy-filled exchange that celebrates a very important aspect of Christianity and Christianity's key distinguishing fact--Jesus resurrection, His conquering of death!

I've enjoyed a great 3-day weekend and the students are still enjoying their 4-day weekend. The library closed early on Thursday (5:30), was closed over the weekend, and is only open business hours today.

I worked a couple of hours later on Thursday before heading out to clogging rehearsal.

Friday morning, I slept in. Got a couple of small things done around the house. Then went over to SS's around mid-afternoon. Helped her with a database project. Enjoyed chicken dinner. Then got to watch the second Harry Potter movie. I had only seen the first one--and that was back when it was in theaters. Now I've added the second one to my list. Maybe by the time the last one is released, I'll have caught up again and will be ready to see it in the theater.

Saturday morning, I made myself feel somewhat productive by running a bunch of errands. Saturday afternoon, I continued to feel somewhat productive by working on some cleaning around the house. Unfortunately, I kept switching back and forth between about 3-5 different areas. My house is in such a state, that you really can't tell I did anything. The only way even I know that I did anything is by remembering that I did it. :( By late Saturday afternoon, JM had brought over some chrysathemums and tulips, which we then planted in the flower beds in front of my house. As of June, I'll have been living in this house for 5 years and this is the first time I've actually helped plant anything in the beds! Hmmm....I think JM had more to do with getting that done than I did! Before it got dark, we had ended up taking a walk out through the Villages. Supper was one of those rare occasions that Jesse got to enjoy my "cooking" skills--spaghetti, browned hamburger to go with the spaghetti sauce he had to run to the store to get, and green bean casserole. Then we made it to the contra-dance for the evening.

Sunday morning, before church, I made it over to JM's to leave a surprise for him that he wouldn't find until later. Easter service was very good. Pastor Ray spoke on "Messages from the Cemetery" and we shared in communion. From church, JM and I headed over to dinner with a clogging family. The also had some cousins and a couple of other cloggers over. Dinner was delicious. JM shared his backyard experiment in the afternoon. He also helped move a couch and a load of wood. Most of the afternoon was visiting, a game of Taboo, and more visiting. In the evening, there was a racoon that showed up in the yard. He is believed to have killed a bunch of chickens, so a hunt was mounted that eventually led to him being trapped in a culvert. Animal control was called to deal with him. It was 9:30 before we left for our own homes.

Through the weekend, I did get to talk with most of my family! D & SR on Thursday night, while they were driving home to KS for the weekend. Dad, Mom, and SC on Sunday evening, after I got home from the Easter dinner.
