The pest-killer man visited my office today! Yeah! He sprayed the ants--and I didn't have to wait a week!
As part of the war effort, he moved the desk from under the window and cauked as far along that outside wall of my office as he could. He then also set a couple of traps, in case they decided to return.
Since he left, there are a few ants that have shown up wandering around on the desk. At this point I'm guessing/hoping that they had just tucked themselves away in the edge of a drawer or some such and missed the killing spray. So they are just lost, lonely survivors.
With little mercy, I'll work on killing them off individually.

What a brutal, uncaring sister!
I laugh as I remember one of my interns sucking up a hoard of swarming ants (indoors) with a vacuum hose as she said, "I'm not killing them, am I? I'm not killing them!"
