Moving

We are continuing to work on moving.

Sunday, we spent time at townhouse. Our push was to get all of the "big" stuff into place--cabinets, desks, etc. That really helped to clear some of the pathways and is making it a lot easier to work on unpacking the boxes.

Last night, I concentrated on packing up my living room. When I started, it was still a maze to walk through, but I really had already packed up a lot. Mostly random odds & ends were all that were left. After packing up a couple of boxes of those, throwing away a couple more bags of papers, and moving my two sets of roller-drawers out of the living room, it's looking rather empty. I still have my iron, ironing board, laptop computer, a chair, vaccuum cleaner, and a few empty boxes left in the living room.

I also packed up my cupboard of food staples in the kitchen--flour, sugar, spices, etc. That leaves all my kitchen cabinets empty. Now I just need to wash and pack the last of my dishes, clear off the shelf over my stove, and clean off the top of the refrigerator. I still need to clean out the refrigerator and move 2-3 boxes of food that came out of the cabinets. I also still have one set of shelves in my kitchen that have been collecting stuff that I need on a daily basis or I particularly don't want to lose in the move.

Last night, I was also able to pack a couple of boxes of bathroom supplies and cleaning products. Hopefully I've left unpacked the cleaning stuff I need to finish cleaning the house. What I ended up packing was things like my extra bottles of dish detergent, hand soap, and glass cleaner. I have smaller containers of those that are plenty for the time I have left here. Also packed up laundry detergent, etc, since I sold my washer and dryer over the weekend and will now be doing all my laundry at the townhouse.

JM brought pizza over for supper last night, so I didn't have to break from packing to eat. And before he left, he vaccuumed the living room for me--it looks so much better now, but still needs a professional cleaning to try to remove some of the stains.

Next focus: my bedroom. Other than missing the mattresses, it still looks a lot like a messy bedroom--bed frame still in place, air mattress on the floor, sweaters spread over the room to dry, piles of clothes in various states of dirty, clean, or packed scattered around the room. But the reality is--it really is mostly clothes, which will pack quickly. There are a couple of boxes of other items, but the bookshelves of books, the vanity, and other non-clothes items have been packed and mostly moved out.

About 4 days until my family arrives.
