We stopped at the post office the other day. JM chose to park in one of the few shady spots under an oak tree, as the day was still quite warm. Pulling into the parking space, there were numerous nuts that rolled and cracked under the tires. As we sat there for a few minutes talking with the windows open, we would hear the nuts falling onto the car and some would fall or bounce into the car.
It was rather amazing to be able to sit there and literally watch the nuts fall out of the tree, bounce on the ground, and roll across the parking lot.
We got to show Jer what an acorn looks like.
“When the oak is felled the whole forest echoes with its fall, but a
hundred acorns are sown in silence by an unnoticed breeze”
--Thomas Carlyle
