JM has already headed to bed, so I best not be too long on this.
We spent last weekend (June 20-22) in West Virginia at the State Folk Festival. Had a wonderful time with Joyce, Mary, and Beth! Joyce won the spelling bee! Joyce and I wove a basket. I listened to "Eleanor Roosevelt" campaign for her husband's reelection. We went square dancing in the evenings. The week before, I'd been ready to say "never again" because of the stress that being gone so much of the month was causing me, but now I'm trying to figure out how we can take Jer next year.
We spent the last week (June 23-27) in Pennsylvania visiting JM's parents and family. Margaret was around all week, when she wasn't working. Katie and family stopped by for supper one evening. Katie makes great hamburgers! David is still working in Florida, so he wasn't around this time. We had a lot of fun! Jer drove his truck around the yard, played the "tank man game" on the computer, raced hot wheels cars, and generally enjoyed hanging out with Grandpa and Grandma. We got to see a couple of movies during the week. JM and I caught the Indiana Jones (enjoyed) movie while Jer went with G & G Mc to see Kung Fu Panda. Friday, we all watched Wall-e. The best I could say for Wall-e was that it was cute with the robots being very expressive with very little speech. The message of the movie was very PC - killing the planet with trash, government funding of clean-up is the answer, etc. I found their re-colonizing efforts laughable--both intentionally (expecting to grow "pizza" plants) and sadly (a group of over-weight, computer (servant)-dependent leisure seekers re-colonizing the trash-covered world with only one living plant). I wouldn't recommend it to others.
We left Pennsylvania at 7:15 Saturday morning to make it back down to Virginia for Gracie's (friend of Jer's) birthday. The party was very fun and Jer enjoyed it.
Sunday, Jer is meeting back up with his mom earlier than normal so that they can go to a live Backyardigans performance. The performance is in DC, so it looks like we'll meet them in there.
JM and I had already planned to go into DC on Monday for a bit of an anniversary celebration (1.5 yrs). Since it seems to make the most sense to take Jer into DC to meet his family for the performance, we decided to extend our celebration a bit and have found a hotel in DC for Sunday evening.
