Cold Weather and other thoughts

The weather has definitely been cold this week. And we were even surprised with a light covering of snow one morning. Disappointingly, even with the cold weather, the snow barely lasted out the day.

A common sentiment that I share is that if it's going to be cold, a little snow goes a long way toward making it worthwhile. It would be nice if the snow lasted as long as the cold though.

I keep a portable CD player in my car. It doesn't like the cold. It will insist that there is "NO DISC" until the car has warmed up.

I don't think my car battery likes the cold either. The last couple of days, my car has been a little slower to start. Not slow enough to make me think it won't start, but slow enough to make me wonder when the battery was last replaced.

The news is spreading farther at work this week. I chickened out on making an announcement to the faculty on Tuesday when I was giving a library update, so I sent out an e-mail a couple of days later. Some of the students had caught the announcement on FB a couple of weeks ago, but I was pretty sure not all of them had, so I did make an announcement during the staff training meeting yesterday.

I still haven't decided how to handle Awana. I told the Commanders last week (parents of at least nine themselves, so very happy for me). I suppose I should at least tell my co-director, but he wasn't there last week and won't be again this week. And then there are the leaders and clubbers. I don't expect I'll make a point of announcing it to the clubbers (5-8 yr olds), but some of them may be asking questions before the end of the Awana year.
