Last weekend was busy and fun with Saturday being the Round Hill Hometown Festival and Monday being Memorial Day. Sunday wasn't to be left out with a picnic at Bears' Den followed by scrambling around on the rocks. We even saw a type of lizard and a snake hanging around the rocks on the beautifully warm and sunny afternoon.
I was also very happy that we got a couple of little house projects done on Monday evening! We (Ok, JM--I just hung onto the door and pretended it was useful.) installed the sweep under our back door where previously there was a quarter inch gap. Then we went upstairs and [JM] changed the lighting over our (or "my"--I've yet to see JM use it) mirror in the bedroom. Again, my help contributed mostly of standing around and giving my opinion while JM capably made it happen!
This has been a VERY short work week--only two days in the library. The challenge has been that those were the last two days before (1) I head off to a conference in Wisconsin tomorrow and (2) we start moving books in the library.
Well, I was expecting it to be the last day before the book move started. The new-to-us shelving was mostly delivered last Tuesday--keyword being "mostly." Some key parts were shipped separately from California on a pallet with a bad zip code and ended up in Atlanta, GA. Since Thursday, I've been calling on the shipping company daily to try to get a delivery date. Yesterday, I called the company that sent the shipment again and left a voicemail with them letting them know the pallet was still in Atlanta. I also guess I'd called the shipper enough times that in the afternoon I ended up getting transferred to the voicemail of "Scott with Lost and Misdelivered Shipments."
I don't know what finally worked, but when I called the shipper this morning, they were finally able to tell me that the pallet is actually on a truck on its way north. The downside is that the truck is scheduled to arrive at BWI (Baltimore, MD) at 9:00 PM Friday. That means that Monday is the earliest we can expect to see the pallet delivered to PHC.
The start date for moving the books has been pushed back to Tuesday.
Tomorrow morning, I catch a flight out to Wisconsin. I should have the PHC booth set up by 5:00. Vendors are expected to be open for shopping for 6-10 tomorrow evening. During that time, I also am scheduled to present a workshop on "Preparing your Homeschooler for College." Praying it goes well. Friday, I'll be at the booth for most of the day. Saturday, I only have to be at the booth in the morning. At noon, I can tear down the booth and catch my flight home. I should be arriving back at Dulles around 1:00AM (Sunday).
