Infant Deaths Drop in U.S., but Rate Is Still High

Infant Deaths Drop in U.S., but Rate Is Still High - NYTimes.com

This article is all conjecture. But I did find it interesting that infant deaths for preterm births are highlighted as 2/3 of all infant deaths. These preterm births include babies born at 34-36 weeks by planned Caesarean section or planned induction. Two different doctors are quoted suggesting that there needs to be more awareness among doctors and mothers of the substantial higher risks for those delivering early for convenience.
