Purcellville Days

Saturday was "Purcellville Heritage Days" (actually it was Friday & Saturday, but I ignored the Friday part). The weather was absolutely gorgeous for the day of outdoor activities and events--local businesses and organizations had booths and displays, local entertainers performed, long-time residents reminiced, and a small carnival provided rides.

I joined the activites shortly after 11:00AM, manning the Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers booth--selling wristbands and drinks. At 12:30, we packed up the booth so everyone could participate in the 1:00 clogging performance. (At this point in the day, I finally took the time to put on sunscreen so I didn't end up looking like a lobster.)

The group's performance went well. Personally, I haven't messed up that badly on that many songs in a row for a long time. After wrapping up the performance at 2:00, I had an hour to eat some lunch, relax and take in the atmosphere of the day.

At 3:00, I was at the Patrick Henry College booth--mostly smiling and watching people walk by, but also answering a few questions like "Aren't all your students home schooled?" and "Well, at least you give preference to home school students, right?" No and No.

With the booths closing at 5:00, the crowds started thinnning very noticably around 4:00. About 4:45, I packed up the booth.

After spending 6 solid hours outdoors around people, I was tired and ready for some down time. But after a short (for me) nap--less than an hour. I headed out to the final Bluemont Contra Dance of the season. Though I had debated not going after my already busy day, I had a lot of fun once I was there. I got to see a couple of friends, meet a new friend, and (of course) once I started dancing, I didn't feel tired at all.
