Disappointed

The ApologetiX concert Friday night went great! The location had to be changed less than 2 days before the concert, but we ended up packing the house with nearly 300 people in attendance. JM was designated as MC, so he got to meet the band ahead of time and introduce them. Way cool! Near the beginning of the concert, the band invited members of the audience up on stage to help them sing a song. JM was up there along with about 10 other audience members. It's rumored that Pastor got some great pictures of him while he was up there singing, but I have yet to see them.

Saturday at the clogging workshop was another great day. Long and tiring, but great! We were in Haymarket by 8:00AM. We didn't leave until well after 9:00PM. In between, we were taught about 7 clogging routines. We also enjoyed the fun dance. As part of the fun dance. BRTC performed a couple of songs and introduced Jesse and I as newlywed, so they could brag about dancing at a wedding. There was a couple there again this year (saw them last year too) that clog together. They are engaged, but won't be getting married until the graduate college in another couple of years. What was really relaxing was being able to go over to Missy's house with the rest of BRTC during the supper break for pizza, salad, and conversation.

Sunday, our church wasn't able to meet as usual (due to the weather, we couldn't get into the school). Instead, we met at Shoney's. We got to exchange stories about the concert and recognize all the hard work that went into it. We also got to see Nick & Lind's new baby--she's 10 days old and it was her first time out of the house!

Today, PHC has the day off, but I came in to the library to try to clear some paper off of my desk. Of course, I took the time to check e-mail when I came in. One of the first messages was that the consultant is planning to visit the library on Saturday. This is a guy that the college is paying to come in from California and help up assess the strengths and weaknesses of the library collection, particularly in relation to our majors. It's bad enough that he can only come on Saturday. The big disappointment for me is that this is the Saturday we were planning to go up to PA to see JM's family! It doesn't look like there's really a possibility of the consultant coming any other time. As director of the library, I don't see that I can reasonably and responsibly leave it to someone else to try to answer the consultant's questions.

One of the motivators for the trip is that JM needs a newer car--his current car needs too many repairs in order to pass the safety inspection to keep it. So the plan is to sell the car to someone in PA--where it'll be easier for it to pass inspection--and buy a newer car. I expect JM and Jer will go ahead and make the trip up to PA and get another car. I was very much looking forward to a weekend with family. Instead, I have only a weekend by myself. Guess I'd better get busy making up the list of things that need done to keep myself busy.
