'ICE' your cell phone

'ICE' Cell Phone Plan Would Help Rescuers (Sam Coats. Washington Post, July 18, 2005. A06)

This article introduces an idea that started in Britain and is becoming popular in England and in the States. I saw the idea being promoted by the Loudoun County Public School System.

This simple plan asks cell phone users to program their emergency contact/next of kin numbers under 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) in the phone's address book. In an emergency, if the cell phone's owner is unable to provide contact information, rescue/emergency personnel can readily identify the appropriate numbers to call.
