Last Weekend and Random Thoughts

We (including Jer) had a great weekend at Massanutten Resort with JM's parents, sister, brother-in-law, and niece. Drove down on Friday after work and came back on Sunday in time for church. We played a couple of games of pool. (I was awful--I think I only pocketed one ball in the entire time! Though that one was a rather surprising bank shot.)

Slept in on Saturday, then spent most of the day at the indoor water park. I have to admit I enjoyed it more than I expected, probably mostly because I don't have a lot of experience with theme parks or water parks. Experience with indoor water parks? Saturday was my first. Experience with other water parks? None, unless you count Silver Dollar City--they have a couple of water rides and we visited one day in freezing rain. :-D Experience with theme parks in general? One day at Disneyland in CA when I was ten, 2-3 days in Silver Dollar City (including the day in the freezing rain). I think that's it.

Which segueys into my lack of experience with roller coasters in genereal. At Disneyland, we went on rides as a family. Which generally meant rides suitable for my 7 yr-old-sister and 2 yr-old-sister--not the roller coasters. At Silver Dollar City, I did get to ride a roller coaster or two. Hmmm....that's about it. When someone asks me if I like roller coasters, I generally say "yes," but that may be an overly broad generalization--I haven't had the chance to find out.

Back on topic. It was around 4:00 or 4:30 when we left the water park and arcade, but we were all tired and hungry. Back at the room, we grabbed some snack-type foods before we headed out again. All the guys--including little Jer--had fun zipping around in go-karts. Then we squeezed in a round of minature golf before they closed at 8:00. I finished in the middle, but I was surprised at how well I did. Thinking about it now, I was probably one of the few that wasn't handicapped. JM had Jer that he was working with and Jer was definitely on the crabby side from being tired and hungry by the time we were done. Little Christy had played, gotten fussy, took a nap, and was awake again in the time we were playing--she'd been passed around between GrandmaM, and her parents. My biggest handicap was carrying around the score card for a few holes--which just doesn't really compare, since they don't get fussy or wander away if you ignore them.

Back at the room again, we made sandwiches and headed to bed pretty immediately. There was some chatting and conversation for a bit, but I missed most of it. I'd decided to layback and relax on the bed while I listened, but I don't actually remembering much of what I heard as I was pretty shortly asleep. Next thing I woke up to the dark room and everyone else in bed. JM had even considerately fallen to sleep on top of the covers, so he wouldn't have to wake me to go to bed. I wasn't so considerate--I woke him up so we could both crawl under the covers and hopefully sleep a bit better!

Our goal was to leave at 8:00 the next morning, to make it back in time for church. I think we were dressed and packed by 8:00, but we still had to switch cars. JM's parents were taking his car up to PA for repairs and were loaning us their car for the week. Still, we made it off around 8:30. Since the drive is less than 2 hours, we made it to church as they were finishing worship.

Really, you woke me up? I'll be darned if I remember that! I guess I was a wee bit tired.
