Of the Smallest Things

I had event happen Monday this week that just seemed to be a reminder from God that he cares about the details and little things of life.

Over the weekend, I was using my PDA and noticed that the stylus was missing. I assumed that I'd misplaced it in the mess that is my desk at work and that it would eventually surface.

After lunch on Monday, I decided on the spur of the moment to stop in and ask Dorothy (assistant to the Dean) about an Excel template that I'm hoping to adapt for use in the library. I had to wait for 3-4 minutes as she finished up another project. Then we started a short discussion of the template (which probably didn't last more than 4-8 minutes). In that time, Cheryl (assistant to the Provost) dropped by the office to ask Dorothy, "Does this belong to your boss?" "This" was my missing PDA stylus! I'd had a meeting on Friday with the Provost and apparently dropped the stylus in his office.

How long would it have taken me to realize that the stylus was not on my desk? Would I have ever thought about the meeting with the Provost as being a place I might have left it? Would Cheryl have gotten around to asking me about the stylus? All unanswerable questions, but all would probably have to be answered in the negative to me ever getting my stylus back anytime soon.

Except that I have a Father that loves me and cares about even the smallest things, so he made sure I got it back....and that I didn't even have a long wait for it.
