No, I haven't given up on blogging. My life has just been rather busy. And once I miss a few days, I feel compelled to make it a long blog and try to catch up on everything that has happened. So....this will be a long blog, but it certainly won't be a complete record of recent events.
Motivating reason to blog I found out today that PHC has hired a second librarian! He's agreed to start July 14--which gives us a couple of weeks of "training" time before I head to Ireland and students return.
Most important event missed in the blogging break Happy Birthday to my sister, L! Her 11th birthday was last Friday, May 13.
Biggest event missed in the blogging break Congratulations to the Class of 2005! Saturday, May 14 was the date reserved for recognizing the achievements of the approximately 50 students that completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree from the College. The event was honored with the presence of retired NBA player, David Robinson.
Record-breaking event missed in the blogging break As of this past week, the Library has received over 7,000 books in donations in the last month. The largest donation of probably more than 4,000 books was actually picked up April 28-29 from a conservative organization in the area. Around the same time, a donation of about 50 books arrived from a book-dealer and donor currently in Germany. For the last few weeks, one of the professors has been delivering books he is culling from his personal library in the process of a move--a donation of more than 2,200 books at last count. The senior class of 2005 decided to donate books to the Library as their class gift--a donation of more than 70 books. And most recently, another local conservative donated over 700 books.

Oh, you SO cheated on this blog! I know it wasn't up on Friday! :^)
It really, truly was STARTED on Friday. So I didn't have to touch the date at all when I finally got around to retrieving the draft and finishing the post. :)
Wow! L is 11 now ... wow!
