Recently, I've been enjoying a renewed excitement reading the Bible and studying verses.
First there was the Walk Through the Old Testament. Getting a summary of all the major Old Testament stories in one day made me want to go back and read all the details again. I'm working on that, but it'll take a while!
Then the Wednesday night youth group has started a new topic of ethics and Christianity. Being challenged to think about specific issues and what the Bible has to say about them has sent me back to the Bible to re-locate all those half-remembered verses or to figure out for myself just what DOES the Bible say? Seeing the kids so involved in trying to think through these issues for themselves is very satisfying to see as well!
On top of that, last weekend, I went through Awana leader training for the coming year. The training program this year had some new DVD materials that spent a bit more time talking about sharing the gospel and reviewing their "gospel wheel." It reminded me how valuable it is to memorize verses...and how necessary it is to review them!
