Last night I missed clogging practice--not something I do often or lightly, but it was very worth it last night!
The Purcellville branch of the Loudoun County Public Library hosted audiobook reader Barbara Rosenblat. An audience of about 30 people showed up for the event. For nearly two hours Ms. Rosenblat schmoozed with the audience, read pieces from books she's done, answered questions, and even performed a little monologue. She is friendly, open, and has a terrific sense of humor and timing.
The appearance was sponsored by Recorded Books (the audiobook company she works with) to promote their e-audiobooks. For the second time in a week, I was told about RF Transmitters that can be used with MP3 players to broadcast the MP3 file through a radio system. I remember when I was fairly young, having a microphone that could broadcast over the radio, but I don't think I've heard of that idea being put to more serious or practical use until now. Anyway, as intended, they made downloading and listening to audiobooks on an MP3 player very appealing. If I get some time this weekend, I may start pricing MP3 players a little more seriously.

A lot of our patrons are walking around with MP3 players. As a result, our CD music has shown a slight decline in circulation. I don't know if there's a direct connection or not.
