HP Smart Web Printing enables simple, predictable web page printing
(Hat tip: Don on the ACL List)
This is a slick idea--let the user decide what to print from a webpage and even combine content from various web pages into one document. Yes, you can do the same with copy and paste and a word document, but this lets you do it right inside your web browser and the software is free.
I just did a quick test with one of those shopping pages that divides all the useful information about the item onto four different tabbed screens. The resultant print-out was fast, easy, and very readable. The one thing I found odd was that as you added more items pieces to the collection to be printed, the new pieces went at the top of the list instead of the bottom.
Maybe if I thought about it there's a good reason, but I was piecing together my list starting with what I wanted at the top, so I had to reverse them all before I printed.
Ah well. It's still something I'll keep around for a bit longer and see how often I really use it.
