Students Attempt To Give Up Technology for a Week and Mostly Fail: "Dian Schaffhauser, 'Students Attempt To Give Up Technology for a Week and Mostly Fail,' Campus Technology, 4/24/2008, http://www.campustechnology.com/article.aspx?aid=61274"
I'm afraid I'd fail at this too!
1). Computer at work. Besides keeping up with e-mail, so much of the library's records are on computer it would be difficult to get much done without a computer . . . but my office would be a lot cleaner! :)
2) Portable CD Player on commute. Somehow I'm thinking that replacing my audio books on CD with audio books on Cassette to avoid using my portable CD player on the commute misses the point of the exercise. Though would using a CD player built into the car be an issue? How about the radio in my car? How about my car? How much technology are we shunning here?
3) Cell phone. Even though my family thinks I could easily go a week without calling them, I really do appreciate my cell phone for staying in touch with my family. And without a land line at home, cell phone is the only way to call. Are we giving up land line phones? If not, what if I only use my cell phone when I'm at home and for voice calls only?
4) DVD's. Watching movies is the only purpose of my tv. And I don't think I'd have too much trouble giving that up for 5 days, especially if I could read, or clean, or maybe call home another time or two. :)
