I'm once again not being very good about posting anything personal.
The end of last week, while I was in the library on my own, I ended up in a re-organizing and cleaning project. It started with archiving the PO's from the past fiscal year and ended with moving the files for the PO's; cleaning out the cabinet of manuals to the filing drawer or recycling (as appropriate); pulling everything off of or out of the gray cabinet; dusting the top of the gray cabinet; moving some of the stuff from the gray cabinet to a more appropriate location; putting smaller items into a box to keep them neater in the gray cabinet; moving some items out of the gray cabinet to more appropriate places (i.e., the boxes of letterhead items to the office supply cabinet); and straightening up in a few more places. The end result is that we have entire shelf in the gray cabinet that is empty (except for interoffice envelopes, still not sure I like them there), an entire shelf in one of the technical services room cabinets entirely empty, the PO's in a file cabinet that doesn't tend to get a cart parked in front of it (really discourages maintaining the PO file if you have to move a cart everytime you want to get into the cabinet), a half dozen more or so empty 3-ring binders, and more space and/or better organization in several other cabinets and files. The down side in all this activity is that our label maker is currently out of label tape, so I can't label all these new files and organization, until that order comes in (hopefully today). Until then, the file drawers especially aren't very usable--just a bunch of hanging files.
Saturday, JM and I went to Chris's wedding with a few other cloggers. It was a very small wedding, so we felt very privileged to have been invited! The wedding was very casual and outdoors. The weather was warm, but cooled off after the beautiful sunset during the reception. We didn't take our clogging shoes, but did get up and clog to a couple of songs--Marry Me and Better Life.
Sunday evening, we had our neighbors the P's over for a steak supper. JM put the steaks on our new grill, while he and Mr. P spent time comparing katas and talking martial arts. The have a little girl who is just over 1.5. She is going through a very shy stage and had missed her nap, so she ended up falling asleep on our couch. They said that was probably the first time she's ever fallen asleep at someone else's house. The steaks were very good and we enjoyed spending the evening talking. We may have to think about doing something earlier next time.
This week at work, I've struggled to get any of my long-term projects done. I've finally given up for the moment and am working on cleaning off my desk and trying to set-up a new organization system for myself to try to keep track of what needs done. We'll see whether this lasts any better than any of my previous attempts!
This weekend, we are headed down to Orange County where they have the fair and a clogging competition on the lawn of Monticello. This is the last year for the fair to be at that location. I'm not sure where it will be next year.

Life in the Summer

I hear you on the projects/cleaning desk thing... I finally determined this morning that I was going to finish off the stack of books I had on my desk to be cataloged (there's more around to be sure, but these were the ones ON the desk) before I started ILL stuff for today - I'm hoping to get everything cleared off again so I can focus better on my longer term stuff too - I think this week was just a distracting summer week for everyone...At least everyone *I* know, LOL!
This is something I can relate to! Oh, to be able to get organized... I'm supposed to move up to the new branch library in a week. All my supplies are in boxes and have (theoretically) been delivered. I've been frantically pulling 3000+ titles from the shelves at the main branch (mostly copy 2s) to transfer up there since they gave me nothing to buy new books with. So I'm ready. My stuff is ready. My books are ready. Guess what's NOT ready....
You guessed it. The library shelves. And no clue as to the delivery date. For some reason it feels strangely like deja vu! ::grin::
Hope you're doing well! 8-)
