Semantic Search: Could the Web Think?
Language-related AI has been an interest of mine since I did a capstone paper on it in college, so this article caught my attention. I haven't had time to read it as closely as I would like yet, but parts of it sound like they are trying to catalog the web--just like books in a library. Cataloging the web--a daunting and impossible task! But I think they are trying to do it on a higher level--relying on machines to do more of the deciphering of the individual sites. I need to spend time checking out the OWL ontology to figure out what they are really trying to do.

Ok, so a silly question. Why trouble to catalog the web when there are folks at the Library of Congress who want to STOP cataloging books??!? (/off sarcasm) Sorry. Rhetorical question. ::heh:: That's just me and my little "wanna-be-cataloger" brain short-circuiting! 8-)
