Work Changes and the Possibility of Changes

After a two-week notice and a big good-by party, the Dean of Academic Affairs gave up his responsibilities as dean to accept a White House appointment. While not technically the "first" academic dean for the college, he has been the dean since before classes started. While we are all happy for him and this opportunity, the departure of his leadership is truly a loss to the college and very much felt personally by many people.

Naturally, an acting dean has been selected. Since it was a department chairman that was selected as acting dean, an acting chairman for the department has also been selected.

Upon my arrival at work today, I received unofficial word that there could be further changes looming. Time will tell.

The big event at PHC is the annual fund-raising golf-tournament. Donors have paid to go out playing golf this morning. This afternoon and evening, they'll be served a couple of meals, learn a bit more about the college, and (I think) have an auction.
