Arriving at Work

Today is a very different feel on campus. They have police tape stretched along the college's property line--at least along the entire length the fronts the highway. Along the police tape, there are officers standing every 10-20 yards. Of course, at the entrance, more officers are stationed.

Driving south on the highway, I had just passed through the Hirst stop light when I heard a "eeeeeee-BANG." I looked over to the northbound lane to see a small dark car that had it's hood bent up with steam spilling out from under the hood. Apparently, he had been watching the officers more closely than the traffic and had ended up running into the back of the red pick-up truck in front of him. Police were at the scene immediately. :) I heard a siren about the time I walked into the main building. Maybe they called an ambulance. I'm praying there were no serious injuries.

Driving into the main drive, I had left my ID on the seat beside me. One of the student security officers reminded me that I would need it to get around campus before waving me on in. There were a few more officers from standing around at various points on campus--parking lot, in the traffic flow between the dorms and main building, etc. There was another student security officers at the door of the main building opening the door while watching those coming in.

The police mobile command unit is set up in the circle of the college with its antenna stuck up in the air.

Even last night, JM had picked me up at the college so we could go to youth group together. We saw a tent set up in the entrancec with some security officers stationed there. When we returned to pick up my car, the security officer let us into campus when he recognized me in the car.
