I forgot to take my camera into DC on Saturday and failed to think about using my cell phone as a camera. I didn't see Jeanette on Saturday, but she got some good pictures of some of the same sights we saw--cherry blossoms and kites!
The clogging performance went well. There were 2-3 songs I made some major mistakes in, but kept dancing, kept smiling, and we all survived. It seemed as the performance went on, the stage got slicker. In one of the latter performances, we had a performer fall down, but she made it back up in time for the end of the dance. :)
Traffic in DC was SLOW and heavy with everyone gawking at the kites and cherry blossoms. We are talking about taking the Metro into DC when we have to go back in to perform on the day of the parade.
With the traffic being so bad, we had very little free time between our performance and going to Bowie, MD to watch four dance groups perform there. We ended up just grabbing a bit of McDonald's before the evening show and then going out to eat afterward. Obviously, that made it even later when we got home--after midnight.
But it was worth it!! All of the performers in the evening did very well. There were two sisters that did Irish step dance and played the violin (sometimes at the same time!). A local Irish dance school brought in their top competitors to perform a few numbers. I think the highlight of the evening was All That! Three of the guys in the group were able to make it and their perfmance was typical for them--high energy dances, impressive steps, and clear tap sounds. A very close second was Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble. They danced to LIVE music! Their show had great transitions (including several complete costume changes), great performance appeal with almost a story feel to their dances, and an impressive variety of dance forms--ballet, tap, Irish step and more.
