An invite to use Gmail showed up on my blogger dashboard this past weekend. I just signed up and am now among the many who have Gmail.
Someone suggested to me that Gmail is going public this past weekend or this weekend. Haven't seen anything official. But as invites are continuing to be issued to more and more people, who cares when it goes public? The price for invites on ebay has dropped dramatically--after being sold for more than $200, they now aren't even $5.

I asked him where he heard that and he couldn't remember. I still haven't found anything that would indicate a release this weekend.
