Thought Train

My sympathies to DM, whose father passed away this week.

I was going to say he "lost his father," but that lost its proper note of seriousness when I recalled the line from The Importance of Being Earnest, "To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness."

Which reminds me, Stage Right is performing The Importance of Being Earnest on Dec 29. If I were going to be in the area, I would definitely plan to attend. Stage Right is a local, all-girls, homeschool drama group.

Speaking of performances, last night's dress rehearsal for BRBC's Christmas play went well, at least from my perspective. They did two complete run-throughs in less than two hours--drastically shorter than in the past few years. The biggest costuming problem was one of the shepherds who lost his costume. Fortunately, in cutting the length of the play, they also cut the size of the cast, so we were able to fit him with another costume. The rest of the night was spent reminding people that "No, white tennis shoes with blue stripes do NOT fit the period costumes. Neither do the blue jeans visible under your robes. And the angels wear BLACK shoes. Don't forget to press your angel robe!"
