Recent Activities

OK, it's been awhile since I've posted anything of currency on this site, so I'll try a little catch-up.

Work is keeping me busy. With the board of trustees meeting last week and self-study accreditation deadline this week, I've been spending a good bit of time digging up statistics and writing reports.

Last week I think I was also fighting a cold or flu. I was low on energy and was crashing by around 10:00 every night. I'm pretty sure I was running a bit of a fever one afternoon. But I never got sick and am back to what I expect this week. Maybe the flu vaccine helped?

No, JM and I haven't quite found a place to live yet. We've got a couple of places high on the list. One is a house in Purcellville, but the rent is a bit higher than we wanted to pay. We want to ask if they are willing to negotiate on the rent, but the person who has the answer is out of the country until tomorrow. The second place is an apartment in Leesburg. The biggest thing I dislike about that place is there's only assigned parking for one vehicle. The second person has to park in unassigned parking a bit farther away.

We did get started on addressing wedding invitations over the weekend. JM figured we made it roughly 1/6th of the way through the list. Youth group got canceled for tonight, so we are planning to get more done tonight. JM figures we should be able to finish off the list in another 4 hours with both of us working on it.

Last night, JM and I both skipped clogging to go to the youth group's Dead Man's Party. The concept being that Christians are the only people who truly have no reason to fear death, so each person was to come dressed as their favorite dead person. The winner of the costume contest was Julia with her period dress for Marie Antoinette. Second place was shared between David (the grim reaper) and Linda (Joan of Arc, complete with stake and flames). Other costumes included a Samurai warrior who had committed seppuku (hara-kiri), Athena, Audrey Hepburn, and Eric Liddell.
