There are so many questions about what should be done with the knowledge gained through progress in reading DNA. This article comments on the variety of tests that have been developed but are not always used to inform parents of their risks of conceiving children with genetic-based problems or to test infants for such problems. Tests that can flag or confirm the possibility of deafness, mental retardation, cystic fibrosis, or even breast cancer.
