I found the missing ILL's (last paragraph) this morning! They were in the cabinet where we keep all of the envelopes and packaging material for ILL. Apparently, who ever was packaging Wednesday night and was putting the extra packaging material back away, mistakenly picked up the microprints still in their manilla envelopes.
We'd already checked the outgoing packages and the shelf where they were supposed to be. I was wondering where else they could be. While the trash wasn't beyond the realm of possibility, it didn't seem likely and I really didn't want to think about it. Then I recalled an incident last year when we had found in the packaging cabinet and book that had never been unpackaged. Since the microprints were in manilla envelopes (exactly like some of our packaging) and, being microprints, are much thinner than a book. Once I went to the cabinet looking for the items, they were easy to find, but weren't obvious to someone getting into the cabinet casually.
