As expected, Eden Troupe performed to a full house this evening. Approximately 270 tickets were sold. It was another solid perfomance by the cast and crew. The problematic scene change of last night was re-worked in several ways and went much smoother tonight. As usual, there were various lines missed, but none noticably, except to those involved.
I received good news--IT has been convinced that the library's circulation computer's hard drive is dying. They've ordered another drive and hope to have it installed on Tuesday. The current drive has been "thinking" louder than normal for well over a year, but in the last few weeks, the performance has nose-dived--longer boot-up times, several seconds required for responses to basic commands, and several minutes required for loading cached web pages. After I reported the problem about a week ago, IT, of course, had to run a series of diagnostics and checks. I believe the inconsistent results from the diagnostics and the performance slow-downs experienced by IT convinced them. Hopefully we won't lose the drive completely before the new drive comes in.
The frustration of the week is some missing ILL items. The items arrived on Wednesday. The status of the requests was updated in the computer and the bookstraps were printed sometime before 6:00. Both students at the 6:00 shift change remember the items being on the circulation desk and knowing that the set of 6 items needed their bookstraps attached. The next shift change at 8:00, one student remembers the items being there, but the other student doesn't. When I came in Thursday morning, the bookstraps were on the desk, but none of the items. Two of the items were found on the shelf waiting to be picked-up, but without bookstraps. The other four items are still missing. I hope very much that the items turn up, because they are not items that will be easy to replace--microprint cards from a set.
