Do You Know...?

Discovered today that I know a librarian in Clearwater, FL who knows the aunt and father of one of the professors here at PHC.

Plano, TX came up in a lunch discussion today. Used as an example of urban sprawl that results in isolation, rather than neighborhoods of community. Was presented that Plano experienced some cycles of teenage suicide because teenagers would come home from school without their parents there and not knowing any of their neighbors. Not sure I would entirely blame the suicide rate on the way the neighborhood was built.

Third Place. Again, this was part of the lunch discussion. I was surprised that half the people involved in the discussion weren't familiar with this concept. I believe it gained common discussion with the book The Great Good Place. The idea that people tend to seek a place outside of the home and outside of work where they are part of a community.
