From LISnews: Linux in Action: A public library's success story.
Reports on a library system not so far from here that has installed a custom version of Linux on all of their public-access computers. Results include happier patrons no longer plagued by pop-ups during web browsing, happier technology support no longer plagued by incessant MS Windows security issues and accompanying upgrades and patches, and happier librarians as they can afford to add more computers.
While I don't expect to have anything similar happen here, it's interesting to consider the changes that are possible when one steps outside the established majority.
