This morning at 10:00AM, the ground was officially (or at least ceremonially) broken for the student center! Two of the speakers mentioned that the completion of the student center would benefit the library--allowing it to at least double, maybe triple, in size in the main building.
The student center will be 104,000 square feet--approximately the same size as all of the current buildings on campus, combined. It will include a gymnasium with retractable seating for 11,000 people, weight-lifting & exercise rooms, dining commons, bookstore, technology center, plus additional faculty offices, classrooms, and other areas. For this construction project, the college is involving a company--Building God's Way. Building God's Way encourages the existing, benefitting community (PHC faculty and staff) to pray for and minister to the workers involved in the construction. This includes bringing them meals and other acts of service.
Completion is at LEAST 16 months out. Once the real groundbreaking equipment arrives on campus, the count-down can begin.
