Bad Technology Week

This hasn't been a great week for servers that I use.

As I've already mentioned, the library's catalog server experienced a hard drive crash on Monday. As the hardware is out of warranty and there is a new director of technology starting today, they delayed doing anything about the problem until they could talk to the new director today. With our catalog server down, the only way to search our collection is through WorldCat.

WorldCat was unusually slow yesterday and, as of this morning, is now entirely down. On their status website, they have had the problem notification up for an hour already with no time frame for when it will be back up. (I expect they'll have it fixed yet this afternoon.)

Then there is Blogger. I had problems posting on Monday and wasn't even able to login when I first tried this morning.
