The bad news call

I was working from home yesterday and there were no full-time staff in the library after about 5:30pm. When I got home from clogging around 10pm, I found a voicemail from my evening student worker with news that a librarian dreads--"There's water coming into the library." Thankfully, he didn't end his message there and went on to re-assure me that it appeared that no materials had been damaged, shelving that was close to the leak had been covered with plastic by maintenance, and maintenance had already fixed the cause of the problem (a blocked gutter).

I am counting my blessings: to have such an efficient maintenance staff, to have a responsible student worker to inform me fully of the incident, to have escaped this incident without ANY damage to books or periodicals.
