Lights Out

I guess the heat got to Purcellville's electrical grid today. There were reports of power being out in town from 11:30AM on through the day.

Lights went out at the college about 6:30, as I was preparing to leave for clogging. The stop lights at the Rt 287 & Rt 9 intersection near the clogging barn were out when I went through there just a few minutes before 7:00. There was an officer there directing traffic. Someone who lived near by and didn't have power said that the recorded message at the power company estimated a 9:00pm time for power to be restored.

The electricity was still on at the clogging barn, but the air conditioner couldn't keep the barn cool. By 8:00, it was cooler outside than it was in the barn, so we took our break outside and left the doors opened as we danced for the rest of the evening.

By the time I left clogging, the stop lights at the intersection were on, but were just blinking. There were flares placed around and a police car parked off to the side.

At home, the time on my microwave was blinking--my only sure indicator of a power outage that's passed.
