Weekend Life

Friday night, there was a small group of cloggers that trouped out to Capon Springs in West Virginia (about an hour from Winchester). A couple of our cloggers were staying there for the week, so we joined them for the Friday night talent show and danced a couple of dances. We had a very responsive audience, which made it a LOT of fun, even though it was a very short performance.

Saturday morning, I worked on editing my notes from the Greece trip. I'm down to about 3 days that need proofed. I may actually get them up on the blog yet!

In the early afternoon, there was a clogging performance at the local school between Purcellville and Hamilton. It was a small festival sponsored by a local church. They had a dunk tank, face painting, and a couple of more activities. For entertainment, they had a Christian band and the cloggers. It wasn't as hot on Saturday as it had been earlier in the week--maybe into the 90's. But the humidity was high with almost no breeze, which turned all the dancers into instant sweat puddles.

Later in the afternoon, I picked up SS and went bridal gown shopping again. I was shopping at Macy's so wasn't all surprised to find all the dresses were definitely beyond what I was willing to pay. But they were having a trunk show--which meant they had a wider than normal variety of dresses available to try on. So I had fun trying on different styles and getting some more definite ideas about what I like and don't like. Strapless is definitely out--not so much for any modesty issues is just the fact that I don't like the way I look in them. Also out are V-neck lines, which includes practically all the halter tops. I really like the look of the rouching--gathers at one side of the waist. If not that, I at least need a waist line on the dress to keep from feeling like a tall post. Now if I can just find what I like at a price I can afford!

As we were headed home on Saturday, SS commented how interesting it was to watch different women favoring different styles of dresses. About the 3rd dress I tried on, I had decided I didn't like it because of the V-neckline. I was in the dressing having barely changed out of it when another of the bridal consultants came back into the changing area calling my name. Asking if I'd changed out of the last dress, she wondered if she could have it to show to someone else. Of course, I was happy to pass on the dress. As we were headed home, SS gave me a bit more of the story. Another women had been trying on all strapless dresses because she was sure that was what she wanted. However, she'd happened to see me in the V-neck dress and decided that it looked so pretty that she wanted to try it on. I didn't find out whether she liked it as well on herself or if it at least convinced her to try some different styles.

Sunday was a lazy day. Church in the morning, lunch with Jesse, the rest of the afternoon and evening napping and watching videos.
