Overdue Catch-up

So it's been WAY too long since I've published anything really worth reading on my blog. I suppose I could blame it on getting engaged, but it would probably be a lot more honest to just say that I've been neglecting my blog.

I had a fabulous time at the library conference (June 11-16) at Indiana Wesleyan University. The only hitch in the week was that my luggage didn't arrive in Indianapolis with me--it was still sitting at the Dulles airport. The airline did get it delivered out to the conference about 12 hours later, so I was able to survive that long.

As usual, the conference was a fun time of catching up with other librarian friends and making new ones. I shared both my Ireland and Greece pictures and gathered congratulations. One of my friends had gotten married in October and another friend had started dating a guy in the past year, so we were sharing stories and wedding advice. A classmate from grad school was there and I finally got to see her scrapbook from a trip she took to Bulgaria for a library conference.

One day at lunch, I met a librarian and was fascinated to hear how he and his wife deal with their Disney obsession. They had just gotten back from a "short Disney vacation." He explained that meant they were only there for three weeks, instead of their normal four weeks or longer. They used Disney-themed colors for each room in their house--their bathroom is decorated in Ariel's signature colors of green and blue. Of course, their home and offices have as much variety in Disney characters, memoriabilia, etc as a Disney store. And yes, they did go to Disney on their honeymoon and wore the bride and groom mouse ears. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to hear someday that he's working at Disney.

In the two weeks since the library conference, I've been catching up with everything that happened while I was gone, trying to get started on all the summer projects, keeping up with all my regular church and clogging activities, and spending time with friends.

Then, Friday afternoon, I received word that my desk needed to be traded out with another desk. With the arrival of the new president and the hire of his assistant, several offices are being re-modeled. However, the desk that was in one of the offices no longer fits in the remodeled office. Since my desk had a smaller footprint, but just as much filing space, they needed to make a trade. So, over the weekend and Monday morning, I pulled all the stuff out of my desk and a bunch of the stuff sitting on the floor of my office so that I could send my desk off and re-arrange enough to make room for the "new" desk. This makes at least the 3rd desk I've used, possibly the 4th.

Now, I'm trying to use the opportunity to sort through some of my old files and get rid of some stuff, while not getting behind on summer projects.
