For more than a year, I've been recieving updates about a young couple that have been challenged in ways that most couples never are.
Over a year ago, Brian was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. They built a team of doctors. They drove several hours each way for a series of different drug treatments. He's undergone various surgical procedures. Now, Brian is facing death. The doctors have given up; treatments have been stopped, except for comfort. Brian and Jori's third wedding anniversary is in August. It seems unlikely that he will be here to celebrate it.
Though no longer directly in contact, I still feel for this young woman (and her family) that I knew growing up. I can't see the meaning in the suffering this couple and their families have endured. I can't see the purpose of cutting short this couple's joy. I can't see the reason why he must die so young. The hope and answer can only be in Jesus Christ.
