My motivating factor in going to clogging tonight was to get my tap fixed before the performance on Monday. As usual, the experience of dancing did away with any reservations of going to practice. Once I observed the beginner class working on a dance and got my clogging shoes on, I was ready to dance. The first song I got to dance tonight was Dance Above the Rainbow, one of my favorites. It starts out with the Rooster Run step that I can get into. The routine continues with relatively simple steps. I can lose myself in the sensations of music, steps, and team blending together. Before I realize it, the end--the challenge. The challenge because I've stepped on my toes and about fallen on the last few steps enough times that I have to remind myself to do them properly. And challenge, because even as one is feeling out of breathe at the end of the song, the music picks up and one has to be alert to stay on the beat and keep the final stomp sharp.
I did get the nails replaced in my tap. The replacement nails must be a little bit longer--they stuck through the sole into the shoe. A bit of hammering bent/blunted the point. Monday, we'll see if they hold and don't hurt my foot.
