Happy Independence Day!

I'm sitting on my neighbor's porch watching the local dispalys. I'm facing East where the professional display at Franklin Park ended a few minutes ago. The cloudy sky reflected all the colors--red, blue, gold--of the larger displays, adding to the beauty of the night. Also visible to the east are a couple of smaller sets of works. Off to the North are a couple more additional displays. To the south, is God's display of fireflies looking like Christmas lights in the tree row. With the house at my back and to the East, I can't see the displays in that direction, though I hear the bangs and see the ligts reflected in the cloud-covered sky. There have also been a fgew flashes of lightning from that direction and a bit of rain has fallen. All in celebration of the freedoms we all too often take for granted.

BRTC joined in a couple of the local celebrations doing performances. Saturday evening, we performed at Lovettsville, which traditionally holds its Independence Day celebrations on the 3rd. This afternoon, we performed in Middlesburg. Both performances went well overall. I certainly made more than my share of mistakes, but I'll keep practicing and try to do better next time.
